Charlotte Rampling is the new face of NARS Cosmetics.
The 68-year-old actress’ youthful looks will feature in the brand’s new advertisement as it prepares to celebrate its 20th anniversary in September.
NARS executives have revealed to WWD that Charlotte will be captured in a “black-and-white portrait-style image”. This will be photographed by the company’s own founder and creative director François Nars himself.
François explained why he chose the British star to be the face of his empire, crediting her for being his muse.
“She is a natural beauty that feels strong, yet relatable. Charlotte’s ability of transformation is unparalleled,” he gushed.
“Whether captured in pieces of artwork, through the lens of a magazine photographer or on film and the big screen, she had an amazing power to encompass a character.”
He also praised Charlotte’s “strength of character”. She began her career as a model when she was a teenager and went on to become a successful actress, her most recent big role being in TV series Dexter.
“I remember Dirk Bogarde referencing Charlotte’s ‘fabled look’ because of the combination of her beauty and withering gaze. This is what makes her an endlessly watchable mystery,” François added fondly.
Charlotte has been open about accepting getting older, insisting she’s never considered changing her appearance.
“This is how I am. I’m still a very attractive woman despite my age – so get used to it,” she previously said.
The screen icon recommended other women follow her advice too. She encouraged older actresses to embrace their looks, wrinkles and all.
“Don’t change your face and you can get really interesting parts – not just granny parts; you can get sexy parts, too,” she advised.
