Reluctant Runner: The HeartMini

I don’t feel proud of myself often. Now if we want to explore that deeper, I should probably lay down on a couch first, but just know that it’s something I’ve struggled with for most of my life.

As I’ve mentioned previously, I was also a very inactive child… and adult. Once the internet became a thing people had in their homes, I was glued to my computer. Whether it was an AOL chat room (which sounded less shady in 1997), reading about video games that wouldn’t be out for another 2 years, or posting on MySpace, I’ve always been staring at a screen rather than going outside.

I say all this to give a little background to the fact that I’m extremely proud of myself for completing the HeartMini on Sunday. A 15k run. 9+ miles. And I didn’t run a year ago. Going from not being able to run for 30 seconds to running 9 miles is still unbelievable to me, but it’s a confidence boost unlike no other.

Up next: Flying Pig Half Marathon.
