009: Getting intimate when you have Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD)

Most people with IBD are physically capable of having sexual intercourse, but there are times when they just don’t feel like it. “The mood” can be dampened by a fear of incontinence, abdominal pain, fever or sheer tiredness. For people living with IBD, most commonly in the form of Crohn’s Disease or Ulcerative Colitis, ‘embarrassment’, ‘shame’ and ‘isolation’ are words used regularly to describe the emotional strain that accompanies the physical symptoms.
