059: It's as easy as pooping in a box

March is Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month! Be honest for a second: How often do you look at the toilet paper (or in the toilet bowl) after you go to the bathroom? If your answer is “never,” it might be time to start. People are often uncomfortable discussing their bowel movements with their doctors and wary of the tests used to screen for colorectal cancer, when the test can really be quite simple. In this episode, Dr. Oakley will go over the warning signs, such as:

β€’ Change in bowel habits (diarrhea, constipation, or stool consistency)
β€’ Rectal bleeding or blood in the stool
β€’ Abdominal pain, cramping, bloating or discomfort
β€’ Unexplained weight loss
β€’ Unexplained anemia (iron deficiency)
