Pet of the Day

Preston – 1/10/18

01-10-13 Preston

Big boy Preston came to STAF via one of our county shelter partners, we are not really sure of how he arrived at the county shelter, but we are thrilled to have this gorgeous boy at STAF. The county shelter let us know that during his stay, Preston did great with other dogs and would always run up to his canine buddies with a toy in his mouth, egging them on for a romp in the yard:).

Preston is around 1 ½ years old and close to 70 lbs. He appears to be a Great Pyrenees mix, possibly mixed with a hound breed. Since arriving at STAF we can confirm that Preston has a lot of friends, both canine and human:) We also cat-tested Preston and he did well as he walked by the cat rooms at STAF. Since coming to STAF Preston is attending doggie daycare and has quickly become a favorite of the folks that work at daycare.

We learned a little more about Preston when he returned to STAF after staying with a perspective home. They were a retired couple who fell pretty quickly for this handsome boy. They adored Preston and said that he was very bonded with them. They said he walked very well on leash. However, they also said they were not very active and believe that Preston will do best with a home that has time to devote to making sure he gets the exercise that he needs. Preston loves to chase a ball in the yard and like every dog that arrives at STAF, Preston will benefit from positive based training to learn the basics but more importantly to help build his confidence. They also noted that another dog in the home for Preston to play with would probably make Preston the happiest dog in the world :). A fenced yard would also definitely be a bonus to helping this young man get the play time that he needs.

Preston is a puppy boy in a big dog’s body. With some love, patience, training and plenty of exercise Preston will be the grown up dog of your dreams.
